 The history of the Naturresidenz Mair zu Hof in Sand in Taufers stretches back centuries, for the Ahrntal residence was once the headquarters of the knights of St. Mauritzien, who were first mentioned as early as 1271. This knight dynasty ranked among the noble ministries of Lord von Taufers, probably one of the most influential aristrocratic families in the whole of the Tyrol.
Since reconstruction in 2003, these historical roots have harmoniously combined with a modern and comfortable living environment in our informally run Naturresidenz in Sand in Taufers. Furnished with loving attention to detail and personally overseen, our holiday apartments let you experience restful days amid the unique natural landscape of the Ahrntal. |

With adventurous hikes in the high mountains, the Zillertal Alps, the Riesenferner and the rocks of the Dolomites, you become acquainted with the unique beauty of the natural landscape in the Ahrntal and the surrounding area.• Hiking advice
As an enthusiastic nature lover, your host Norbert knows our enchanting Tauferer Ahrntal inside out and he will gladly initiate you into the secrets of the unique natural landscape around Sand in Taufers and reveal to you the most beautiful hikes and hidden features.• Specialised tours with Norbert
Upon request, the host of the Naturresidenz Mair zu Hof is also happy to accompany active guests on extreme and specialised tours. Himself a sports enthusiast and well informed, he will take you on hut tours in the Tauferer Ahrntal, alpine tours in the Dolomites, glacier hikes on the main alpine ridge, and also adventurous rafting tours and tandem paragliding flights high in the skies above Sand in Taufers.It must however be made clear that your host Norbert is a hiking companion, not a mountain guide. Upon request, we will gladly refer you to an alpine school you can trust.
• Hire
To lighten your luggage a little, we provide you with hiking poles and rucksacks, and of course in winter also snowshoes for snowshoe hikes through the unique, deeply snow-covered winter landscape of the Tauferer Ahrntal.• Welcome
Upon arrival, you will find in your apartment a fruit bowl or a little welcome present. And in our info pack, we inform you in advance of all you need to know for your holiday in the beautiful Ahrntal.• Service
For a nice relaxing start to the new holiday, we will bring a newspaper of your choice and fresh bread rolls to your apartment. There is no extra cost for this service. You just pay the cost of the newspaper and bread.• Wellbeing
